PROYECTO LIBERTAD Noticias desde la Cárcel / News from Prison

Muy buenos dias todo/as!

Primero, una disculpa por nuestra larga ausencia!

Segundo: los meses julio y agosto han sido de mucho aprendizaje de ambas partes en la cárcel! Hemos podido impartir talleres el 10, 24 y 31 de julio y el 7, 14, 21 y 28 de agosto, progresando significativamente en términos de concretar y producir nuestras ideas, y en términos de iniciar un verdadero proceso social. Al inicio de agosto se decidió de incluir a dos menores de edad en el taller de los adultos ya que no se pudo concretar un grupo de solo menores. Los dos se han incluido sin ninguna problema en el grupo de adultos, que ahora cuenta con 19 participantes fijos en cada taller!

Desgraciadamente hemos tenido que vernos obligados a suspender los talleres de septiembre, octubre, noviembre y diciembre por razones prácticas (específicamente: Julia de hecho tenía que ir a terminar su maestría de septiembre a diciembre en Holanda, y Mick desgraciadamente tuvo un serio problema de salud ahorita en octubre por lo cual ha tenido que retirarse temporalmente de todos sus actividades). Pero la buena noticia es, por lo que el objetivo justamente de este proyecto ha sido de crear un proceso constante y sostenible, que tambíen hemos recibido la fantástica noticia de las autoridades carcelarias que podremos seguir trabajando con el grupo de adultos por lo menos de enero hasta mayo del año que viene!!! Les estamos muy agradecidos por esta oportunidad : )

Good day everybody!

First of all: an apology for our long absence!

Secondly: the months July and August have been great in prison! We were able to give workshops 10, 24, and 31 July and 7, 14, 21, and 28 August, progressing significantly in terms of concretizing and producing ideas and in terms of initiating a serious social process! In the beginning of August it was decided to include two minors in the adult workshops who had expressed their interest in participating even after a group of just minors wasn't able to come to. The two have been welcomed warmly and included without any trouble by the adults, the group now counting about 19 solid participants!

It's very sad to bring you on the other hand the sad new that we've had to postpone the workshops for September, October, November, and December because of practical reasons. It was already a given that Julia would go back to Holland to finish her master thesis from September to December. Unfortunately, however, Mick suffered a serious health complication just now in October, which has impeded his sole continuation of the project at least to the end of this year. The good news, on the other hand (because the objective of this project was and still is to be constant and sustainable) is that we've been okayed to continue the process with the adult group from January at least right into May next year!! We're very greatful for this opportunity and their faith in us :)

Para julio y agosto los talleres se impartiran cada viernes, de 8.30 a 11.30 los adultos y de 13.00 a 15.00 los menores. En planificación quedan septiembre hasta diciembre por este año, a ver si nos dejan seguir en el 2010.......

KICK-OFF / INICIO PROYECTO LIBERTAD!!

Hoy se ha dado el inicio oficial al Proyecto Libertad!

En el Centro Penitenciario Matagalpa, ubicado en Waswalí, se llevó a cabo hoy el primer taller de teatro con el grupo de internos menores de edad. Todos los veintisiete internos estuvieron presentes y al fin del taller quatorce de ellos decidieron involucrarse activamente en la formación de un grupo de teatro en el sistema.

El objetivo de la primera fase de Proyecto Libertad es la creación de grupos de teatro en las sistemas penitenciarias de Nicaragua, llevando a cabo un proceso en la cual la creación de libertad dentro de la carcel es lo más importante. El acuerdo es que ni ellos nos haran daño ni nos utilizaran, ni nosotros les haremos daño, ni los utilizaremos. Tras el compartir de las historias de cada uno del grupo, se creará, como uno de los resultados visibles, una obra de teatro en que el trabajo emocional y corporal son centrales para los actores. Hoy se realizó el primer taller de entrenamiento actoral. Los talleres seran semanales por ahora, y se realizarán cada miércoles a partir de las 9AM. Pronto les informamos el calendario de talleres.

Al fin del primer taller se nos acercó un joven de 23 años que no participó en el taller pero que si lo vió y que habia visto la presentación de Muerte Arriba este febrero. El se entusiasmó y nos preguntó si será posible formar un grupo de teatro para los mayores de edad a partir de junio - nosotros por supuesto encantado! Para hablar de esa posibilidad tenemos una cita mañana con William Trujillo, el encargado de nuestras actividades. Bueno hasta aquí por hoy! Les mantenemos al tanto!!

Proyecto Libertad has oficially kicked off today!

Today the first encounter with the minors deprived of liberty took place and the first theatre group of adolescents created in the penitentiary system of Matagalpa, located in Waswalí.
All twentyseven minors were present at the introductory workshop and fourteen of them decided to participate actively to form a theatre group. The objective of the first phase of Proyecto Libertad is the creation of theatre groups in the penitentiary systems of Nicaragua to start a process in which the creation of liberties in prison is the most important. The agreement is that we won´t do them wrong in any way, or make use of them, nor will they do us wrong or use us in any way. Sharing the stories of each group member, we together create, as one of the visible results of the process, a theatre play in which the emotional and physical efforts of the actors is central. Today we realized the first workshop of actoral training. The workshops will be weekly on Wednesdays from 9AM onwards.

A 23 year old was also present at the workshop and told us that among his age group there is a group interested in participating too, which may lead to the creation of a theatre group of adults! Tomorrow we see William Trujillo, the officer in charge of our activities in the prison, and will discuss this possibility with him, just as the possibility of two encounters per week with the minors.

Lleca Holanda Fundado/Founded!! : )

Hola Tod@s!

Una muy buena noticia les traigo hoy!!

Hoy, el 26 de marzo del ano 2009, se ha fundado oficialmente la Fundacion Lleca por mi, Julienne Weegels, en Haarlem, Holanda para el apoyo a los proyectos futuros de Lleca Teatro!! Esperamos que en el futuro esta fundacion pueda brindarnos mayor respaldo financiero y transparencia juridica para toda la gente interesada en apoyar nuestros proyectos mientras se aprueba nuestra Asociacion en la Asamblea Nacional Nicaraguense.

Hay que ver la Asociacion Lleca Teatro (LTo) como una sombrilla de varios grupos de teatro (ahora son el grupo universitario Mola de Matagalpa y el grupo de mujeres Cigualthi de Leon). La idea es que la Fundacion Lleca (FL) pueda ejecutar los proyectos por los cuales gestiona financiamento en Europa atraves de la Asociacion - entre LTo y FL hay y siempre hubo un intensivo intercambio de ideas y propuestas, ya que FL ha nacido de LTo Nicaragua. Como tal, la ideas es que entre FL y LTo habra un tipo de corriente dinamica de gestion e ideas : ) Nuestros objetivos y motivaciones son iguales, igual que nuestro entusiasmo y dedicacion!!

Hello Everybody!

I have some very good news today!!

Today, March 26th 2009, the Foundation Lleca (FL) was officialy founded by myself, Julienne Weegels, in Haarlem, the Netherlands, to help realize the future projects of the Association Lleca Teatro (LTo)!! We hope that this can provide us with a better financial backbone to the Lleca Teatro projects and greater juridical transparency for all those interested in supporting our projects while we await oficialization of LTo by the Nicaragua National Assembly.

You should see the Association Lleca Teatro (LTo) as an umbrella organization for various theatre groups (now the universitarian group Mola in Matagalpa and the women's group Cigualthi in Leon). The idea is that the foundation Lleca (FL) can execute the projects for which it finds financing in Europe via the Association - LTo and FL have always known a strong idea exchange as FL has sprouted from LTo. As such, the idea is that FL will function as a partner in a sort of dynamic current of ideas and financing between FL and LTo : ) Our objectives and motivations are the same, and so is our enthusiasm and dedication!!

Nostalgia : )

Un videito del 6 de septiembre del 2006 (!!!) de como empezó a tomar forma Lleca Teatro :) El videito fue tomado como una entrevista / propaganda para Muerte Arriba, que fue presentada como monólogo en ese entonces, y tuvo muy entusiastas reacciones del público! Fue la primera salida a escena de Lleca Teatro, Mick llevó toda la actuación, hicimos la escenografía y funcioné como traductora para el público holandes. Muerta Arriba la presentemos así Haarlem y Amsterdam de septiembre a noviembre del 2006.
